Man who died in lorry crash on A14 at Nacton is named
Officers were called to the A14 at Nacton just after 9am on Monday after a crash involving a lorry and a silver Ford S-Max on the westbound carriageway. The driver of the Ford was pronounced dead at the scene. Part of the A14 was closed for 16 hours (Image: National Highways)
Subject to confirmation at formal inquest proceedings, the driver has been named as Tony Warner, 67, of Ilketshall St Lawrence, near Bungay. Two passengers in the car were taken to hospital for treatment, but did not sustain any serious injuries. Mr Warner's family have asked officers to pass on their thanks and gratitude to all the emergency services personnel who attended the incident and also the members of the public who assisted at the scene.
Tony Warner (Image: Suffolk Constabulary) A 50-year-old man from Newmarket was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning. He was released on bail until July 13 pending further enquiries.
