Police chases, fatal crashes and scooters seized
Across Yorkshire, the police have dealt with a variety of traffic offences, from serious crashes to vehicle crime in the last week. West Yorkshire Police[1] dealt with some serious crashes across the county, while a serious crash took place in Sheffield[2] on Friday. Five teenagers were also sentenced following a serious crash near Rishworth.
These incidents have taken place across Yorkshire[3], with police forces from all corners dealing with them. Here are the serious traffic incidents dealt with by the police this week.
Five teenagers sentenced
Harrison Reynolds (Image: GFM)On Monday, May 11, five teenagers were sentenced following a serious crash in Calderdale which led to the death of one of their friends on February 4, 2025. Harrison Reynolds was travelling in a stolen Vauxhall Corsa with five other poeple when it crashed into a grass verge on the A672 Oldham Road near Rishworth.
Aged 13, he died after being thrown from the car. Two boys fled, while both girls and the driver remained there. The driver, a 16-year-old boy, was sentenced to four years, two of which will be detained in custody, and he has been banned from driving for seven years and must pass an extended driving test.
An 18-year-old boy, who was 16 at the time, was sentenced to a 12-month Intensive Referral Order and disqualified from driving for four years after admitting to aggravated vehicle taking. A 15-year-old boy was sentenced to a 12-month Intensive Referral Order and disqualified from driving for four years after admitting the same charge. A 17-year-old girl was sentenced to a 12-month Intensive Referral Order and disqualified from driving for four years after admitting aggravated vehicle taking, while a 16-year-old girl who initially took the vehicle was sentenced to a 12-month Intensive Referral Order and disqualified from driving for four years after admitting aggravated vehicle taking.
E scooter seizure in Huddersfield
Seized e-scooter and car (Image: WYP)In Huddersfield, the police carried out an operation to deal with antisocial driving and riding.
Two cars were seized, in addition to two e scooters after police saw them being used antisocially in the town centre. The police also issued three fixed penalty notices for offences which included having no MOT, an insecure load, and a bald tyre. A man wanted on recall to prison was also arrested.
DVSA officers issued seven prohibition notices for a number of offences.
Serious Bradford crash
A 58-year-old woman was hit by a van in Bradford at 6.58pm on Tuesday, on Denbury Mount. She was hit while the van was reversing, and was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. A19 crash
At 4.55am on Tuesday, a Kia Sportage and a Fiat 500 crashed on the A19 at Deighton.

Dewsbury police chase crash
West Yorkshire Police were chasing a vehicle in Dewsbury after it failed to stop for officers on Denby Dale Road during the early hours of Thursday.
The white Citroen C3 then crashed into a black Lexus which was being driven at 2.43am on Slaithwaite Road at the junction with Lees Hall Road. Thankfully, the Lexus driver was not injured. However, three occupants in the Citroen were taken to hospital.
There, two were treated for minor injuries while a man aged 30 suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries. If you have any information, you can contact the police online[4] or by calling 101, quoting log number 105 of May 14.
Wakefield fatal crash
At 1.04am on Friday, West Yorkshire Police officers reported a motorbike had failed to stop for them on Barnsley Road in Wakefield. Before a chase was authorised, the rider crashed into street furniture at the junction with Sycamore Close.
The rider, a 30-year-old man, died at the scene. The police have made a mandatory referral to the IOPC in line with standard procedure. Now, the police want witnesses to come forward.

Elderly man hit by car in Sheffield city centre
The police cordon on Arundel Gate in Sheffield (Image: Sheffield Online)On Friday, at 12.20pm, South Yorkshire Police were called to Arundel Gate in Sheffield city centre, where a man aged in his 80s had been hit by a Toyota BZ4X. The man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver remained on the scene to assist the police and the road at Arundel Gate was closed.

Serious Wakefield crash
On Saturday, West Yorkshire Police issued an appeal following a crash in Wakefield. They were called at 2.45am to Chevet Lane in Notton, where a car had crashed into a tree.
The man, a 23-year-old, inside the Ford Focus, was rushed to hospital.
