Transit van goes up in flames on A-road near Tiverton

A transit van went up in flames on an A-road near Tiverton[1] this afternoon.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue[2] were called to the southbound carriageway of the A361 near Tiverton to reports of a van fire.

Crews responded to the incident at 2.08pm where the engine compartment of a transit van had caught alight. The fire service said the vehicle's front cab sustained extensive fire damage. Advertisement

Firefighters used one breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire safely. Devon and Cornwall Police [3]also attended the incident at around 2.20pm and confirmed there are no reports of any injuries.

A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: "At 14:08 today, crews responded to a fire involving the engine compartment of a transit van on the southbound carriageway of the A361B.

"The vehicle's front cab sustained extensive fire damage. Firefighters used one breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire safely.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson added: "The van fire in Tiverton: We were called by the fire service to a report of a van fire on the eastbound carriageway of the A361 near Tiverton at around 2.20pm today, Wednesday, May 20.

"The fire has been extinguished.

There are no reports of any injuries."
