Update after HGV overturns and crashes into property at Warwick Bridge

THE A69 at Warwick Bridge reopened on Saturday morning after an HGV overturned and struck a property near the roadside.
The crash happened just after 5 pm on Friday, May 8, prompting the closure of the road in both directions[1] between Junction 43 of the M6 near Carlisle[2] and the A689, between Great Corby Road and the Castle Carrock turn-off.

The road remained closed overnight while the lorry was recovered and the carriageway underwent repairs and cleaning.

Cumbria Police said the road reopened at around 7.30 am on Saturday, May 9.
Police have confirmed that no one was injured in the incident.
Fire crews from Brampton[3], Carlisle East and Carlisle West attended, along with an Enhanced Rescue Unit. The driver had already exited the vehicle by the time firefighters arrived.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said crews were dispatched at 5.13 pm on Friday and reached the scene within 10 minutes.

It is understood that a structural engineer was called in to assess the damage caused to the nearby building.
Cumberland Council[4] has been contacted for an update on the extent of the damage to the building.
