A36 in Wiltshire closed for hours after lorry crash

A lorry overturned when it was involved in a crash on the A36 between Warminster and Deptford at around 9pm on Wednesday, June 17. A large amount of fuel spilled onto the road and emergency crews closed the southbound carriageway while the scene was cleared. The closure caused delays for drivers heading south on the key route and there were some queues throughout the night.
The road remained closed until shortly after 5am on Thursday, June 18, when National Highways confirmed it had reopened and traffic had returned to normal levels. During that time, the lorry was recovered and emergency resurfacing of the road was completed to repair damage caused during the crash. A National Highways spokesperson said: "The A36 southbound has reopened between the B3414 near Warminster and the A303 Deptford following an earlier overturned lorry and large fuel spillage.
"Emergency resurfacing is complete.
No delays on approach."
