Delivery driver arrested in police immigration operation

A delivery driver has been arrested on suspicion of immigration offences after an operation in Hereford.

West Mercia Police and immigration enforcement officers worked together to tackle delivery workers who may have been breaking the law.

During the operation on Tuesday (June 16), officers were searching for van drivers, or those working using bikes while working for takeaways, who may be committing driving or immigration offences.

In Gaol Street, a van driver was stopped and questioned by officers before being arrested on suspicion of immigration offences.

It is alleged by immigration officers that the 28-year-old man was an overstayer who had absconded after his visa expired.

He was arrested and taken into custody by officers.
