M25 near Gatwick Airport crash

The crash happened shortly before 10am today (June 24) between Junctions 6 and 7 near Bletchingley. It involved a white Mercedes Vito van and a white lorry.[1] The van's driver, a man in his 30s, suffered serious injuries.

He was treated at the scene before being airlifted to hospital. The M25 clockwise carriageway between Junctions 6 and 7 remains shut. Emergency services and National Highways are still responding to the incident.

Recovery of one of the vehicles is underway.READ MORE: An oil spillage from the crash has damaged the road surface. National Highways[2] engineers are assessing the situation to determine when the carriageway can safely reopen.

The exit slip road at Junction 6 has reopened, allowing drivers to leave the motorway and rejoin at Junction 6 if necessary. Traffic is being diverted via the M26 and local roads. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and stay updated via National Highways and local travel updates.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage of the incident to come forward. A spokesperson for Surrey Police said: "We would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding while emergency services responded to the incident and road closures remained in place.
