M6 shut in Staffordshire pile-up as police make dashcam appeal

Police have launched an investigation into an M6 pile-up that shut the motorway and left a man and woman with 'serious injuries'. Officers, paramedics and firefighters sent to the Staffordshire smash found three vehicles had been involved - with one hitting the central reservation.

Emergency services had been forced to shut the motorway at Junction 11 as fire crews helped the occupants of the vehicle that had struck the reservation. The collision had occurred just before 4.30pm on May 30.

Now Staffordshire Police has made a public appeal for information. Meanwhile West Midlands Ambulance Service say the two patients were treated before being taken to hospital.

A spokesman said: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision on the northbound M6, two ambulances attended the scene. On arrival we discovered two patients, a man and a woman.

They were both treated for serious injuries, not thought to be life-threatening, before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham."

A force spokesperson said: "Three vehicles were involved in the collision on the M6. Officers attended along with colleagues from Weds Midlands Ambulance Service, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, and National Highways. Advertisement

"One vehicle had collided with the central reservation and the M6 was closed while firefighters assisted occupants from inside the vehicle.

Our inquiries are continuing."
