M6 traffic live: Serious lorry crash sparks severe delays on Lancashire motorway

A recovery operation is being carried out on the M6 following a serious accident where a lorry jack-knifed.
National Highways states: "The road is expected to remain closed for some time while several critical steps are completed before it can safely reopen. Emergency services will continue their work at the scene, including making the vehicle safe.
"Specialist recovery will be required to clear the scene, particularly due to the involvement of a heavy goods vehicle. This typically involves deploying heavy-duty lifting and recovery equipment.
The complexity of these operations can vary depending on vehicle position, load type, and any damage sustained.
"Following recovery, National Highways will need to carry out safety inspections of the carriageway, including checks for damage to safety barriers and any contamination caused by fuel or debris."
