A man and woman were taken to hospital after a smash left part of the busy A53 'blocked'.
Paramedics received 'several' 999 calls following the smash in Endon.
Emergency services were sent to Leek Road - near its junction with Clay Lake - where a van and a car had been involved in a collision. The crash, that occurred just before 6.25pm yesterday, saw drivers reportedly diverting from the scene and going along Clay Lake and Station Road.
Today West Midlands Ambulance Service say the occupants of the car were taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital.
A spokeswoman said: "We received several 999 calls reporting a two-vehicle road traffic collision on Leek Road, Endon, last night. One ambulance attended and assessed the driver and a passenger of a car involved.
The man and woman sustained non-life threatening injuries and were conveyed to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further checks."

Article continues belowA spokeswoman for Staffordshire Police said: "We were called to the junction of Station Road and Clay Lake, Endon, following reports of a collision involving a car and a van.
Recovery was arranged for both vehicles."
