Man in his 20s dies after crash near Leicestershire town

A man in his 20s had died following an early morning collision near a Leicestershire village.

Leicestershire Police[1] said it received a call at around 1.10am on Wednesday morning (June 10), regarding the collision on the A512 Ashby Road West, near Shepshed[2].

The collision involved[3] a green Ford Fiesta and a white HGV.

Officers said the driver of the Fiesta, a man in his twenties, was pronounced dead at the scene and that the HGV driver was not injured.

At the time of the collision, the HGV was travelling towards Shepshed while the Fiesta was travelling in the opposite direction.

Officers from the force's Serious Collision Investigation Unit said they are investigating the collision.

Anyone who saw the incident or the circumstances leading up to it is being asked to contact the police on 101, quoting incident 25 of June 10 in any correspondence.

Additionally, anyone who may have dashcam footage which captured anything relating to the collision is also asked to make contact.
