A man has been injured after a crash involving police in Anfield[1] this afternoon (Monday, June 29). Emergency services were called to Oakfield Road shortly after 4pm where a section of the road was cordoned off.
Merseyside Police[2] said officers were on patrol just before 4pm when they spotted a man riding an electric motorbike dangerously along Breck Road, including allegedly going through red lights. Police said the rider, a man in his 20s, failed to stop for officers before "contact was made at slow speed" on Oakfield Road[3].
The man suffered a suspected ankle injury and was assessed by paramedics[4] at the scene.
A red electric motorbike could be seen lying next to an unmarked police car inside the cordon before it was later recovered by a removal truck.
People living nearby described seeing a large emergency services response unfold in the area.
Locals told how they saw police cars "flying" up Sleepers Hill shortly after 4pm.
One person told the ECHO[5]: "We saw the kid sitting down on the pavement, leaning against the railings. He looked like he was in a lot of pain. He had his sock off and was getting his leg looked at."
