Photos dramatic lorry crash on A34 near Winchester

Images were recently posted on Facebook[1] following a major accident involving an overturned lorry on the A34 northbound, near its junction with the A303. The crash happened at approximately 9.38am on Monday, June 15, and caused significant traffic disruption throughout the day. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance confirmed that the team, including a doctor and two advanced paramedics, were deployed by helicopter to the incident.
Following treatment on scene, the driver was taken to the hospital by road ambulance and is reportedly in a "serious condition". During the day, drivers reported being stuck for several hours, with some saying they were at a standstill for up to four hours. Motorists heading southbound on the A34 also faced queues, with tailbacks extending beyond the A303 junction.
National Highways said at 4pm that clean-up operations were still underway and estimated the road would reopen around 8.45pm that evening.
Congestion also built up in Winchester's one-way system.
Drivers were trying to avoid the accident and deal with further delays caused by the closure of Sussex Street.
