A van driver has died after a two-vehicle crash along an A-road earlier today (Sunday, June 14).
The A358 between Ilminster and Taunton was closed to traffic shortly after 10am this morning.
The A-road was shut between Southfields Roundabout and Rapps, and the junctions with Broadway Street & Cad Road at Ilton were also closed.
A later post by the police on their Twitter/X account said that the closures "will be required for several hours."
Witnesses told Somerset Live the air ambulance landed on the A358 during the emergency services response to the crash.
This evening the force confirmed that a man had died in the crash.
A spokesperson for the force said: "Sadly, a man who was driving the van sadly died at the scene.
"The man's family have been informed and will be supported by a specially-trained officer.
Our sympathies are with them at this difficult time.

It has now reopened.
"Officers have spoken to witnesses at the scene, however we still wish to hear from anyone else who can assist our enquiries, including anyone with dashcam footage from the area at around the time of the collision."
