M23 crash that killed Highways worker sees man charged with dangerous driving

A 38-year-old man has been charged following a fatal collision[1] on the M23.
Emergency services were called to the southbound carriageway of the M23[2] at Junction 9 (Horley[3]) just prior to 1am on Wednesday (July 8) after a van collided with a highways worker.
The 65-year-old man from Kent was declared deceased at the scene.
The driver of the van, a 38-year-old man, was arrested at the scene.
Vilius Domarkas, 38, of no fixed address was charged the same day with causing death by dangerous driving in connection with the incident.
He appeared at Crawley Magistrates' Court on Thursday (July 9) and was remanded into custody until he is due to appear at Lewes Crown Court on August 6.
Detective Sergeant Rob Baldwin from Sussex police said: "We are continuing to support the victim's family following this tragic incident.
"The investigation remains ongoing, and we continue to encourage anyone who witnessed the collision, or who has relevant information including dashcam footage to come forward."
