M60 was closed between Prestwich and Clifton after crash

Police were called to the collision[1] at around 11.15pm between J16, Clifton, J17 Prestwich[2], and J18, Simister Island, leading to delays and congestion for up to two miles. According to National Highways, the incident began slightly earlier, at around 10.41pm. Greater Manchester Police[3] (GMP) have now confirmed that no one was injured as a result of the collision and that no arrests were made.

A GMP[4] spokesperson said: "It looks like an RTC between a car and an HGV at around 11.15pm, close to the exit slip at junction 17. No injuries or arrests etc." According to National Highways, the collision caused delays for several hours as the road was cleared.

All lanes were closed initially as police attended the scene before being gradually reopened. The road was back open by around 1.50am on July 1. A multi-vehicle collision led to hours of road closures on the M60 on June 17[5].

The incident necessitated resurfacing works and required an emergency team to tackle the resultant spillages.
