M74 crash: Driver dies & two others in hospital after Porsche ploughs into multiple vehicles & hits central reservation

A MAN tragically died and two women were injured in a horror crash on a Scots motorway last night.

The fatal collision[1] happened at around 6pm on Sunday on Junction 2 near Rutherglen on the M74.

A 65-year-old man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

He was driving[2] a Porsche[3] Boxter which collided with several vehicles before crashing into the central reservation of the Southbound carriageway.

A 45-year-old woman driving a Nissan[4] Lead and a 42-year-old woman in a BMW[5] 2 series were both rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University[6] Hospital[7] for treatment.

The M74 was closed in both directions while cops[8] investigated.

this morning at around 4.30am.

Police officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident.

Sergeant Adnan Alam at the Road Policing, Helen Street, Govan said: “Our thoughts are with the family[9] of the deceased at this difficult time.

“We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash and has not already spoken to police[10].

“We would also like to speak to anyone who was driving in the area and has dashcam[11] footage to please check this as they may have captured the crash or just prior to it taking place.”

It comes after a 22-year-old man died after a horror crash on the B6357 Annan-Cannonbie-Jedburgh Road in Dumfries and Galloway.[12][13]

Tributes have been paid to a “perfect son” who cops have now named as Lewis Chapman.

Lewis, who was from Langholm, was a passenger in the car and was tragically pronounced dead at the scene on Friday, December 13.
