Lorry crashes off busy motorway onto railway line causing huge delays

A LORRY has crashed off a major Scottish motorway and onto a busy railway line.

Shocking photos from the scene show the HGV blocking the train tracks near Gretna.

It’s understood that the vehicle has gone down the embankment off the M74.

And there is currently a huge police presence at the scene.

The crash has caused travel chaos this morning, with the railway line between Dumfries[1] and Carlisle closed and a number of train services cancelled.

Services between Glasgow[2] Central and Carlisle via Dumfries have also been axed.

“All stations between Dumfries and Carlisle will not be served.

“Disruption is expected until the end of the day.”

ScotRail[3] also wrote on X: “Due to checking reports of an obstruction on the line between Dumfries and Carlisle all lines are closed.
