Man, 18, dies after being hit lorry while walking on Scots motorway

A TEENAGER has died in an HGV horror crash after he was seen walking on a motorway.

Police[1] said the 18-year-old man was involved in a collision[2] involving a truck on the M74 in Lanarkshire[3] in the early hours of this morning.

The force said he was spotted walking near to junction six for Hamilton[4] on the southbound motorway at around 3.10am.

They received another report stating the man had been struck by a vehicle shortly after.

Emergency services raced to the scene, but the teenager was pronounced dead.

Cops have since appealed for information.

Police have launched a probe into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy and enquiries are continuing.

Sergeant John Houston said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the 18-year-old man, as well as everyone else affected by this tragic incident.

Truck driver, 50, killed in horror crash with HGV and Mini on busy Scots flyover

A TRUCK driver has been killed in a horror three-vehicle crash on a busy Scots flyover.

The 50-year-old man – driver of a Ford[1] Transit flat bed – was pronounced dead at the scene of the A725 smash this morning.

His truck collided with a red HGV and a black Mini[2] Cooper at 11:30am. on the Shawhead flyover at its junction with the A8 eastbound slip road.

Emergency crews raced to the scene and the road was closed for around five and a half hours.

The other drivers were checked over at the scene.

Police[3] are appealing for information about the fatal crash.
