Huge lorry carrying fairground rides stopped on M1 and taken off road

A lorry carrying fairground rides was stopped on the M1 and found by police[1] to have a number of issues. Nottinghamshire’s Roads Policing Unit checked out the vehicle after it was spotted by their counterparts from Derbyshire.

The large unit, described by officers as the ‘biggest shed we’ve ever seen’, was towing dodgems when it was checked over by officers. They discovered the vehicle had defective brakes and no valid insurance.

A spokesperson for the team said: “It was carrying dodgems….safe to say its dodged causing a serious crash.” The team had been assisted by the Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit bike team for HGV protection training.

During their training, a trailer was also escorted into an examination area and it was discovered all the rear lights were defective.
