Child among three injured in six-vehicle crash on A41 near Hemel Hempstead

A child was among three injured in a crash involving six vehicles on the A41. A woman suffered potentially life-changing injuries in the collision on Monday morning (August 21).

It happened at around 10.10am on the southbound carriageway between Hemel Hempstead and Kings Langley. Herts Police said the vehicles involved included a Mercedes tipper HGV and a black Peugeot.

The three occupants of the Peugeot were taken to hospital. A man and the child, whose injuries are not described as life-changing or life-threatening, were taken to hospital by ambulance. The woman was airlifted to hospital.

A 44-year-old man from Ilford, Greater London, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and remains in custody. Officers are now appealing for anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.

Sergeant Alex Ward, from the Road Policing Unit, said: “Our enquiries are continuing, and we are appealing for any witnesses to please come forward. If you were driving in the area and have a dash-cam fitted, please check it as you may have recorded some crucial footage to assist our investigation.

“I would also like to thank the public’s patience as the road remained closed for several hours while our officers carried out crucial work at the scene.”
