Woman killed in motorbike crash was person who ‘brightened everyone’s day’
A woman who died in a motorbike crash has been described as a "lovely person" by friends.
The 54-year-old, who has been named locally as Nicky, died after the motorbike she was passenger on crash[1]ed with a tipper. Nicky, from Runcorn, was airlifted from the scene on the A533 Northwich Road, Bartington in Northwich on Friday, September 15, at around 4.55pm, however she later died in hospital.
Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. Tributes have now named the crash victim as Nicky, who was said to have "brighten everyone's day".
Kyle Sanders posted on the ECHO Facebook[4]: "She was such a lovely person who always brightens everyone’s day especially the kids of a school morning when doing her lollipop duties, so sad, RIP Nicki." Lesley Amanda Patrica Young commented: "The lady that was killed in the accident was my cousin and my sister and my brothers cousin RIP Nicky you are always in our hearts and thought's too."
Another, Claire Buckley said: "RIP Nicki, so sad such a lovely lady." While a fourth said Lisa Cooper added: "Rest in peace Nikki, going to miss seeing you and talking to you. Hearing your infectious laugh and seeing your smile. Will never forget you."
And Caroline Bird said: "Such a lovely lady always said hello while passing, goodnight goddess Nikki sending love to all the family." Officers[5] attended the scene and found there had been a crash between a Benelli TRK motorbik[6]e and a Ford Transit flatbed tipper near to the entrance to Dones View Farm.
The rider of the bike, a 53-year-old man, from Runcorn[7], was also taken to hospital with minor injuries; he has since been discharged. The driver of the tipper, a 29-year-old man from Runcorn, was uninjured.
Inspector Steve Griffiths, of the Serious and Complex Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was an incredibly tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who died.
“As part of our investigation, we are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. We are especially interested in speaking to the occupants of a red motor car which passed the motorcycle immediately prior to the collision who may have valuable information for the investigators.
“The same goes for anyone who has any dashcam or CCTV footage, that may help us determine how this incident occurred. If you have any information, we urge you to contact us via cheshire.police.uk/tell-us or call 101, quoting IML- 1645787.”
