A608 Mansfield Road Underwood police update as motorcyclist left seriously injured in crash with van

A motorcyclist has been left seriously injured in a collision with a van that’s closed a busy Nottinghamshire road in both directions. The man in his 40s has been taken to hospital following the crash on the A608 Mansfield[1] Road at Underwood. The collision was reported at about 6.20am on Thursday (December 14) and the road remains closed with investigation works taking place from Church Lane to junction 27 of the M1 for Hucknall[2] and Underwood.

The nearby B600 Alfreton Road is also closed. Police[3] have issued a public appeal for witnesses to come forward. Sergeant Mark Baker, of the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This incident has left a man with serious injuries and we are working to understand what happened.

The road has been closed in both directions, between Junction 27 of the M1 and Alfreton Road with diversions in place. Get the latest news straight to your phone by joining us on WhatsApp[4] “The closure is expected to remain in place until at least 2pm today.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible.
