Forensics officers at scene of skate park attack near Nottingham College that has left man fighting for life

Crime[1] scene investigators are carrying out enquiries at the scene of a skate park attack near Nottingham College’s Canal Street campus. A man remains in hospital with a life-threatening injury after being assaulted at the Sussex Street Skate Park underneath the tram tracks. A police[2] cordon remained in place as of 12.30pm on Wednesday, December 6, following the incident at 6.50pm the previous day. Nottinghamshire Police[3] said a 24-year-old man sustained critical injuries after being assaulted.

It followed an altercation[4] with a group of around five to ten people, who then allegedly ran from the scene in the direction of High Pavement and Cliff Road, towards the Lace Market. Police said paramedics attended the scene and took the victim to hospital, where he remains. Officers continue to investigate[5] the circumstances of the incident, with the cordon affecting the entire skate park area, including the steps down towards it by the Nottingham Contemporary.

Nottingham College itself remains open.

Any witnesses to the incident are asked to call 101 quoting incident number 635 of December 5.
