Nottinghamshire Police issue hard hitting video reminding people over the Christmas season that drink and drug driving has consequences

Nottinghamshire Police are warning residents of the consequences of drink and drug-driving and are urging people to consider their actions during this holiday season. They have released a hard-hitting video which illustrates the consequences of drink and drug driving. “It’s just one drink is something people tell themselves,” said a police spokesman.

“How many times have you been out for a drink that’s turned into more than just the one? “This festive season we want you to think about the devastating consequences drink or drug-driving could lead to.

“You not only put yourself and others at risk but you could lose your licence, your job, face a criminal record, an unlimited fine, or serve time in prison. “This could all lead to you losing the respect of your family and friends and losing your reputation – all because of one bad decision.

“This December we’re asking the people of Nottinghamshire to please leave your keys at home if you’re planning on having a drink. “We’ve created a short film showing you exactly what will happen if you get caught drink or drug-driving. [embedded content]

“Over the festive period our officers will be out on the roads patrolling so please take a minute to watch how your night could end if you break the law and get behind the wheel drunk.

“Help us make sure everyone comes home this Christmas – leave the keys at home. “Think someone is going to attempt to drive under the influence? “Try and discourage them, but if they won’t listen, tell us or make an anonymous report.

“Call 101, or 999 if there’s an immediate risk.

“Don’t want to give your name?

Call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
