Melbourne crash: One person dead after truck and car collided on Wellington Road in Rowville
A horror crash between a truck and car in Melbourne’s south-east on Thursday morning has left one man dead. The man died at the scene after the truck collided with the vehicle he was driving in at Rowville just before 9am. Police said in a statement that it was believed the truck was travelling west on Wellington Road when it collided with the man’s car.
His vehicle was turning right on Wellington Road from Braeburn Parade at the time of the incident, it is understood. Police further believe the truck “collided with two other vehicles, before a third vehicle was damaged after a traffic light pole fell on it”. No injuries were reported among the occupants of those other vehicles.
The male truck was also not injured in the collision. He stopped at the scene, and is currently assisting police with their enquiries. “The circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be established and the investigation is ongoing,” police said.
Firefighters were also called to the scene, and reportedly sprayed fire retardant to contain a diesel leak.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash, with dashcam footage or information, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
