Pedestrian in Royal Stoke with head injuries as ‘serious collision’ shut road

A pedestrian suffered ‘multiple injuries’ in a collision which shut a road. Staffordshire Police[1], Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service[2] and West Midlands Ambulance Service[3] were called to Uttoxeter Road, in Blythe Bridge[4], on Saturday night. A Mini and a rail replacement coach were inside the police cordon. It is understood that the coach had already been parked there for a number of hours when the collision occurred.

Now police are appealing for witnesses. A police spokesman said: “We were called just before 5pm on Saturday 13 January to reports of a serious collision involving a pedestrian and a car on Uttoxeter Road. The pedestrian, a woman, was taken to hospital with head injuries.

The driver of the car, a Mini, was not injured. We are keen to speak to anyone with any CCTV or dashcam footage from the area or those with any information which could help collision investigators.” The section of Uttoxeter Road – between its junctions with Stallington Road and Grindley Lane – was closed for a number of hours on Saturday night.

Emergency services have shut part of Uttoxeter Road through Blythe Bridge

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a Midlands air ambulance critical care car to the crash scene.

An ambulance service spokesman said: “We were called to reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian on Uttoxeter Road at 4.55pm on Saturday. On arrival we discovered one patient, a woman, who was the pedestrian. She was found to have suffered multiple serious injuries in the collision and after receiving treatment at the scene was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital.”

Witnesses should call the police on 101, quoting incident number 516 of 13 January.
