Driver in Aintree hospital with serious injuries, police say

The driver who has stuck in his vehicle after a crash between two HGV's this morning is now in hospital with serious injuries according to Cheshire Police.

A police spokesperson said the man's injuries are "not life-changing".

The collision was between an HGV and a tipper truck.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Constabulary said:

At 10.29am on Wednesday 14 February, police were called to reports of a collision on the M53 northbound between junctions 8 and 9.

Officers attended and found there had been a collision between a HGV and a tipper truck.

The driver of one of the vehicles was trapped in his vehicle following the collision.

Fire and ambulance attended the scene, and the casualty was released from his vehicle and taken to Aintree hospital via land ambulance.

His injuries are believed to be serious but not life changing.

Air ambulance also landed on a nearby field to assist with the casualty.

The northbound carriageway is currently closed while recovery work is undertaken.
