Woman dies in crash with lorry on A60 Mansfield Road in Daybrook

A woman has died after being involved in a crash with a lorry this afternoon. Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that a 74-year-old pedestrian had died after a collision on the A60 Mansfield Road, in Daybrook, at around 2.15pm today, Monday, March 25.[1][2]

The road, between Nottingham Road and Thackery’s Lane and near both The Vale pub and Madford Retail Park, is expected to be closed until around 8pm. As a result, traffic is heavy and motorists are advised to avoid the area, or seek alternative routes if they cannot avoid driving.

NCT and Trentbarton buses have both diverted certain services due to the incident.[3] Police, Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service and East Midlands Ambulance Service[4] have all attended the scene.

Some fire engines departed the scene at around 3.30pm. The woman’s next of kin has been informed and support is being provided by specialist officers.

Sergeant Craig Luckett, of Nottinghamshire Police[5]’s Roads Policing Unit and Serious Collision Unit, said: “First and foremost, our thoughts remain with this woman’s family and loved ones. We are in the process of carrying out a thorough investigation. Road closures have been put in place while we continue to examine the scene and these are set to remain for some time yet.

“Thank you to everyone for their ongoing patience while we conduct these important inquiries. This incident would have been traumatic for people to have witnessed so we’d urge them to please get in touch with the investigation team.”

Anyone who witnessed this incident or has any information that could assist the police is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 354 of 25 March 2024.
