Plymouth court list includes 23 men and women in trouble
Another week, another clutch of folk who have, for a variety of reasons, found themselves stood before magistrates to hear their fate.
From fines and community orders to jail terms and suspended sentences, they have been handed a variety of punishments – and learning experiences – in the hope of preventing them from returning to court.
Among them have been the usual drink and drug drivers – because nothing says ‘a danger to others’ like a person under the influence of alcohol or an illegal substances behind the wheel of a vehicle which can travel at speed along public roads – although you may be surprised to see that the person who refused to comply with blowing into a breathalyser was handed a longer driving ban than those who did and failed it.
Two men who targeted a popular Plymouth shop with the aim of making off with goods without paying – one using a magnetic detagging device to avoid the security system – were dealt with by means of either unpaid work order or a community order.
Meanwhile two burglars received jail sentences – although one was fortunate enough to have his suspended.
