A453 live updates as serious crash shuts road near Nottingham Trent University’s Clifton campus

A road closure is in place following a serious crash near Nottingham Trent University’s[1] Clifton campus overnight. Three vehicles were involved in the collision on the A453 Remembrance Way, which took place at around 1.45am this morning (Friday, September 20).

At least one person involved sustained injuries that police currently[2] believe to be life-threatening. Closures on the A453 have been put in place between Green Lane and Farnborough Road.

Drivers are advised to avoid this area[3], with closures predicted to remain in place for some time for accident investigation work, according to traffic information service Inrix. HGV drivers in particular are asked to use alternative routes, so as to avoid causing significant traffic disruption.

A spokesperson for Highways East Midlands tweeted just before 5.10am to say: “The A453 remains CLOSED in both directions between M1 A50 and A52 near Clifton Nottinghamshire due to a multi vehicle collision. Nottinghamshire Police remain on scene.
