A section of the A46 is shut after a lorry overturned and shed its load of potatoes.

The vehicle overturned near McDonalds on the A46 Brownhills roundabout, causing delays and tailbacks in the area.

A National Highways spokesman said: “The A46 is closed southbound between the A17 Winthorpe and the A617 South Muskham near Newark On Trent. This is due to an overturned lorry carrying potatoes that have spilled onto the roundabout.

“Recovery of the vehicle could be protracted so please plan your journey.”
