M1 live updates as multi-vehicle crash leads to long delays between J23A and J24 for Nottingham

A multi-vehicle collision led to traffic being held on part of the M1 this afternoon (Friday, October 18). Traffic information service Inrix reported that the crash initially led to the closure of four lanes following the incident close to East Midlands Airport.

The incident reportedly involves a lorry and four cars The collision occurred between Junction 23A (A42 for Derby/East Midlands Airport/Tamworth) and Junction 24 (A453 Ashby Road for Nottingham South/East Midlands Airport). All lanes had opened before 4pm with delays easing by 5pm.
