New pictures show scale of A453 Nottingham lorry fire as police issue update

Dramatic pictures show the extent of a lorry trailer fire on the A453 near Clifton. The A453 has been closed southbound[1] due to the fire from the A52 Clifton Boulevard and Farnborough Road in Clifton.

Traffic is extremely heavy in the area with congestion back to the Queens Drive turn-off of the A52 Clifton Boulevard and on the A60 towards Ruddington.

The emergency services were called to the incident at 11.25am on Tuesday, October 29. Police said the occupants of the lorry were unharmed.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service[2], Nottinghamshire Police[3] and National Highways traffic officers have all been in attendance. Traffic has been diverted via local routes and motorists have been asked to allow extra time for their journeys.

Pictures from the scene posted by National Highways on X (previously Twitter) show the scale of the fire. At least four fire engines are pictured, with one aerial ladder erected to help extinguish the fire.
