Several injured after crash involving bus carrying schoolchildren and lorry

Several people have been hospitalised following a collision between a bus carrying schoolchildren and a HGV in Leicestershire, earlier today (Wednesday, November 13). A number of other individuals also sustained injuries from the incident .

The crash occurred around 9:30am on the A46 northbound carriageway near Syston. According to a Leicestershire Police[1] spokesperson, 16 passengers suffered minor injuries, with five individuals taken to hospital “as a precaution”, reports Leicestershire Live[2].

In a statement, the force said: “Police received a report at 9.30am today (Wednesday, November 13) of a collision involving a bus, containing a number of schoolchildren, and an HGV on the A46 northbound carriageway near to Syston.

“16 passengers sustained minor injuries and 10 of those were taken to hospital as a precaution.

“Emergency services responded at the time and local road closures were put in place. The road has since been reopened.”
