Nottinghamshire A1 live updates as road closed after crash involving tractor and van

A stretch of the A1 in Nottinghamshire[1] is closed following a crash involving a tractor and a van. The northbound carriageway is shut near Newark, between the B6326 and Lavender Way, this afternoon. The tractor involved in the crash overturned and ended up on its roof, causing a large amount of debris and oil to spread across the carriageway, according to National Highways. Traffic is queuing[2] due to the collision, which was first reported at 3.50pm this afternoon (Wednesday, March 5).

National Highways said in a statement on X: "The A1 is closed northbound between B6326 and A46 near Balderton due to a collision involving a tractor and van. More into follow." Traffic monitoring site Inrix said: "A1 Northbound blocked, queueing traffic due to obstruction on the road between the B6326 (Balderton / Claypole Turn Off, Fernwood) and Lavender Way (Coddington Turn Off, Newark).
