A52 Derby accident live traffic updates as Brian Clough Way is closed eastbound

Traffic was very heavy on the A52 Brian Clough Way[1] eastbound towards Nottingham on Monday morning (May 19), following a collision involving a lorry and several other vehicles, according to online traffic information. Traffic information service Inrix was the first to report that the accident and said it had happened at about 6.15am. There was queuing traffic in all directions and motorists were advised to avoid the area.

The road was fully closed for about two hours between junction 25 for the M1 at Sandicare and the A6003 Ilkeston Road at Bramcote Island to allow emergency vehicles to attend the scene. One lane was eventually reopened to allow traffic to filter past the scene. The road was fully reopened shortly after 10am and traffic was reported to be travelling normally about 30 minutes later.

Traffic had been diverted, where possible, along other routes which also became congested. No further information is available about exactly how many vehicles were involved or if there were any injuries. This was a breaking news blog.
