Traffic queues on busy Nottinghamshire road after lorry overturns and spills oil
Traffic is building on busy Nottinghamshire [1]road after a lorry overturned and spilled oil on a roundabout. The A46 is currently closed northbound between the A617 [2](Cattle Market Roundabout, near Newark[3]) and the A1 at Winthorpe due to the lorry that is stranded on the grass next to the Brownhills Roundabout. National Highways[4] crews and emergency services were deployed to recover the large vehicle at around 11pm yesterday (Tuesday, May 20).
A spokesperson for the highways authority said the "complex recovery and clear-up operation" was ongoing as of Wednesday morning. Emergency services including Nottinghamshire Police[5] remain in attendance, National Highways added. Highways contractors are also on scene to help manage traffic.
