Person suffers life-threatening injuries as Volvo and lorry crash
A person has been critically injured in a crash between a car and a lorry between Bristol and Bath[1]. Emergency services were called to the A420 at Tog Hill at around 11am on Thursday, July 24[2], where the two vehicles collided. Five people, all adults, were inside the car, a blue Volvo XC90, at the time of the crash.
One of these was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, Avon and Somerset Police said. The other four people also sustained injuries in the crash, though these are not thought to be life threatening or life changing, a spokesperson said. Their next of kin have been informed.
The driver of the lorry, a red Scania tipper truck, was also given medical treatment for an injury not described as life threatening or life changing. The lorry overturned and shed its load into the road. The A420 has been closed at the junction with Bath Road and the A46 Cold Ashton roundabout.
Freezinghill Lane is also closed between Bath Road and the A420, and Gorse Lane is closed between the A420 and the A46.
Avon and Somerset Police said: "Collision investigation continues and specialist recovery will be needed for the lorry which has overturned and shed its load.

"Please seek alternative routes.
"If you were travelling in the area at the time and have any journey-cam footage, or any other information which could help our investigation, please call 101 and give the reference 5225208754."
