Full list of nearly 50 speed cameras in and around Glasgow that aren’t in use

Police Scotland [1] has named the locations of 120 speed cameras across Scotland that are inactive, and 49 of those can be found in Glasgow and its surrounding areas. The list was obtained through a Freedom of Information request by the national force, according to the Daily Record.[2]

While the cameras remain installed, they are covered with a "Not in Use" sign. Safety Cameras Scotland, the operator of these devices, stated that they can remain dormant for up to three years, after which a decision will be made about whether to reactivate or abandon them.

The inactive cameras are spread across various locations: three in Ayrshire, one in East Renfrewshire, two in Renfrewshire, one in East Dunbartonshire [4], four in North Lanarkshire [5], one in South Lanarkshire [6], and a staggering 37 in Glasgow.

These cameras were not only used to catch speeding motorists but also those jumping red lights.
