A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: "We are appealing for information after a woman suffered serious injuries in a collision earlier today. We were called shortly after 12 noon to Alsager Road, at the junction of the A500 westbound exit slip road at Audley, following reports of a two-vehicle collision. "A silver and red tipper lorry and a black Ford Fiesta were involved.

A woman in her 20s, who was a passenger in the Fiesta, was taken to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries. "The driver of the car, also a woman in her 20s, was also taken to hospital by ambulance as a precaution. The lorry driver was assessed by paramedics at the scene and discharged.

"Officers closed the road while emergency services attended the scene. It has since re-opened. We are keen to speak to anyone who saw the vehicles prior to the collision.
