Police appeal as young woman critically injured in A500 two-vehicle smash
Police are appealing for witnesses after a young woman was left fighting for her life[1] following a crash on the A500. The casualty - aged in her 20s - was a passenger in a black Ford Fiesta that collided with a silver and red tipper lorry.
She was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital with 'critical injuries' following the collision, which happened in Alsager Road, at the junction of the A500 westbound exit slip road near Audley. Advertisement

The Fiesta driver - a woman also in her 20s - was also taken to hospital by ambulance as a precaution, while the trucker was assessed and discharged at the scene.
A closure was in place[2] for around four hours from 12.14pm today (September 18) while an investigation got underway.
Now officers are asking anyone who saw the vehicles prior to the crash to get in touch.
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: "We are appealing for information after a woman suffered serious injuries in a collision earlier today. We were called shortly after 12 noon to Alsager Road, at the junction of the A500 westbound exit slip road at Audley, following reports of a two-vehicle collision. Advertisement

"A silver and red tipper lorry and a black Ford Fiesta were involved.
A woman in her 20s, who was a passenger in the Fiesta, was taken to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.
"The driver of the car, also a woman in her 20s, was also taken to hospital by ambulance as a precaution. The lorry driver was assessed by paramedics at the scene and discharged.
"Officers closed the road while emergency services attended the scene. It has since re-opened.
We are keen to speak to anyone who saw the vehicles prior to the collision. Anyone with relevant information or dashcam footage should contact us."
West Midlands Ambulance Service[3] sent two ambulances, two paramedic officers and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford to the scene. Advertisement

A spokesman said: "On arrival, crews found a woman in a critical condition and provided advanced life support before conveying her via land to Royal Stoke University Hospital with air ambulance medics travelling on board to continue treatment en route.
A second patient, a woman, was treated for injuries not believed to be serious and conveyed to the same hospital via land ambulance."
Witnesses should call 101 quoting incident number 285 of September 18.
