Police statement on M40 crash after woman dies in tragedy
Police have released more details following the tragic death of a woman on the M40. Both Warwickshire[1] Police officers and West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) responded to 999 calls to report a collision between a pedestrian and a HGV yesterday afternoon (September 3). Police put a number of road closures on the the M40 northbound, between junction 15 and 16.
WMAS told CoventryLive that medics were sadly unable to save a woman.[2] Warwickshire Police[3] has now confirmed that the woman's next of kin has been informed. She has not been publicly identified.
"We were called at around 4.35pm yesterday evening (Wednesday 3 September) to a report of a vehicle in collision with a woman on the M40, between J15-J16," a Warwickshire Police spokesperson said. "The woman was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. Her next of kin has been informed.
Road closures were in place while emergency services were in attendance."
The road closures were in place for more than an hour.
