M6 Cumbria: Man in 60s dies after central reservation crash

Emergency services were called this morning (Wednesday, November 12) after a tipper truck collided with the central reservation on the M6 northbound between junction 42 and 43. The driver of the tipper truck, a man in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The collision led to the M6 being closed in both directions for a time, with the southbound carriageway closed to allow the air ambulance to land at the scene.
The M6 has now been fully reopened, with the southbound carriageway reopening at around 1.30pm, and the northbound carriageway reopening at around 2.45pm. A Cumbria Police spokesperson said: "Cumbria Police would like to thank drivers for their patience during the road closures. "Officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to contact them.
