Multi-vehicle A46 crash sees two men taken to hospital

Drivers were urged to avoid the area for several hours while closures were in place

Two men were taken to hospital after a multi-vehicle collision on the A46 yesterday.

The crash happened at around 8pm on Friday (January 23) and prompted the closure of the A46 both ways between the A52 Saxondale and the A606.

The collision involved a van and a car, with Nottinghamshire Police[1] saying two men were taken to the hospital.

Both have since been discharged, police said.

Motorists were urged to avoid the area while emergency services dealt with the incident. Meanwhile, National Highways East Midlands put a diversion in place while the collision was dealt with.

Police said the road reopened just after 3am this morning (Saturday, January 24).

No arrests have been made in relation to the collision, officers added.

A police[2] spokesperson said: "Two men were treated in hospital after a collision involving a car and a van on the A46.

"Emergency services were called to the southbound carriageway near Owthorpe shortly after 8pm yesterday (Friday) evening.

"The drivers of both vehicles were treated in hospital but have now been released.

Nobody else was injured."

Anyone who witnessed the collision or may have captured dashcam footage is urged to call police on 101, quoting incident 717 of 23 January 2026.
