A motorcyclist has died in a crash with a van on the A1 in Nottinghamshire.

Emergency services were called to a stretch of road at South Muskham, near Newark, at about 21:00 BST on Friday.

On Saturday, Nottinghamshire Police said the motorcyclist, a 57-year-old man, died at the scene.

The driver of the van stopped at the scene and gave an account to officers, the force added.

Det Sgt Paul Clark said: "The man's family will be supported by specialist officers following this tragic incident and our thoughts are with them. Advertisement Advertisement

"We'd still like to hear from anyone with any relevant dashcam footage of the incident who has not yet spoken to an officer, or anyone who may have witnessed the incident."

Police closed the road in both directions overnight while investigations took place.

It reopened at about 10:40 on Saturday.
