A man has died after being hit by a van[1] on a busy Nottinghamshire[2] A-road.
Emergency services were called to the A57[3] in Worksop[4] at around 10.30pm on Wednesday, June 10, following reports a man had been struck by a van.
The 30-year-old man hit by the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
Nottinghamshire Police[5] said the van driver stopped and gave an account of what happened to officers.
No arrests have been made.
However, the force has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct[6], the policing watchdog, due to its previous contact with the man who died.
The force has not yet explained why this referral was made.
Detective Inspector Jamie Moore, of Nottinghamshire Police's[7] Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Our thoughts are with the man's family and they are being supported by specially trained police[8] officers.
"We would like to hear from anyone with information, or relevant dashcam footage, about what happened and who has not yet given an account to officers."

Officers closed the A57 between its junctions with the A60 and the B6034 Netherton Road for several hours while investigations took place.
