Woman, 24, killed in horror crash in Kilmarnock pictured for first time

A WOMAN who died in a horror crash a week before Christmas has been named by police.

Kayla Wilson died in the fatal smash on the B7038 in KilmarnockAyrshire[1], during rush hour on Monday, December 18.

The 24-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision[2] on Ayr Road.

It involved a Vauxhall[3] Corsa and an Audi[4] Q2.

Emergency services[5] rushed to the busy route around 9.35am after the alarm was raised.

The 67-year-old female driver of the other car[6] and a 64-year-old female passenger were taken to Queen Elizabeth University[7] Hospital[8] in Glasgow[9] for treatment.

Officers paid tribute to the family[11] and friends of Kayla.

They added their enquiries are ongoing and issued a plea for information or dashcam[12] footage of the B7038 from anybody who may have been driving[13] in the area at the time.

Road Policing Sergeant Martin Cunningham said: “Our thoughts are with Kayla’s family and friends at this difficult time and we continue to support them as our enquiries progress.

“Thank you to those who have already contacted police with information, however I’d still be keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened or saw the red Vauxhall Corsa and blue[14] Audi Q2 before the crash.

“Anyone who has dashcam footage of the B7038 from around the time and hasn’t already reviewed it, please do so and bring anything of significance to our attention.”

Woman, 24, killed in horror crash as two others rushed to hospital

A YOUNG woman has died following a horror two-car crash during rush hour.

The fatal smash happened on the B7038 Ayr Road in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire[1], this morning.

It involved a Vauxhall[2] Corsa and an Audi[3] Q2.

Emergency services rushed to the busy route around 9.35am after the alarm was raised.

But a 24-year-old woman who was driving the Corsa could not be saved and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Formal identification is still to take place but her family has been informed.

The road was closed for six-and-a-half hours as police[5] carried out enquiries.

Cops are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Police Sergeant Martin Cunningham of the road policing unit said: “Our inquiries are continuing to understand the full circumstances of what happened. Sadly, this young woman lost her life, and our thoughts are with her family and friends.

“I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who may have dash-cam footage, and has not yet spoken to or provided this information to officers, to contact us as soon as possible.

“The road was closed for around six and half hours. I want to thank members of the public for their patience while we investigated this serious collision.”
